It would be a good idea if at all possible for the child to discuss the issue with both parents. The parents should try to be understanding and give the child an opportunity to explain their reasons for not wanting to go. Forced visitation upon the child or the parent doesn't benefit anyone involved. Perhaps it's a matter of the child being afraid to travel on their own, or not wanting to leave their friends or family even for a short while. When families are honest in talking to each other, there is almost always a way to find a happy solution.
