Turkey was not created in the peace agreements that followed World War I. Instead, the Republic of Turkey was officially established in 1923 following the Turkish War of Independence, which emerged from the aftermath of the war and subsequent treaties. The Treaty of Sèvres in 1920 aimed to partition the Ottoman Empire, but it was ultimately replaced by the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, which recognized the sovereignty of the new Turkish state.
