Why do publishers reject a 12 year old's writing?

Anyone who can write can become an author. You become an author by writing. That's the most important part. It's a long path, though, with no guarantees. The best steps you can take at the age of 12 are to pay good attention in your Reading and Language Arts or English classes and to read, read, read. I'm a twelve year old writing a book, and my dad has already published a book. Send it to a small publisher, and they may consider it. If not, rejection is part of the business. Work on using different and more exciting Words, and make sure your grammar is correct. Make sure that your story has a main plot, and a problem. Also make sure that the characters are well developed.
