When did Richmond start in the AFL?

Richmond Football Club was established in 1885 and joined the Victorian Football Association (VFA) in 1908. The club became a founding member of the Australian Football League (AFL), which was initially known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), in 1897. Richmond has since become one of the most successful clubs in the league's history.
