Is Ralph papa thorson still alive?

Ralph "Papa" Thorson was killed in a car bomb explosion many years ago. The movie based upon his life, The Hunter (the final film of legendary screen star Steve McQueen) showed just how dangerous his profession was-he had numerous enemies and it seems that one (or perhaps a few) of them got him in the end.
