In "The Lighthouse," each character reacts uniquely to the invasion of rats: Tom becomes paranoid and aggressive, believing the rodents symbolize deeper threats; while the pragmatic and calm character, Dick, attempts to rationalize the situation and maintain order; and finally, the superstitious and anxious character, Harry, succumbs to fear and hysteria. These varied responses ultimately lead to discord among them, exacerbating their isolation and contributing to the story's tragic outcome. Personally, I identify with Dick, as I value reason and composure in chaotic situations, believing that a level-headed approach can help navigate crises more effectively.
