How can you keep bees away from home and pool areas?

Find their nest and destroy it or eliminate access to it. I used to have bees in my backyard and I found they were nesting behind the dryer vent. I tried to seal it with caulk or and tape, but they ate right through that. Finally someone told me tar will work, so I tried it and it did work. Unfortunately the bees were stuck in the nest and had no other place to go but inside the house. After a few days they all died and all was good. After that I would occasionally see a bee or two in the backyard, but that is expected, it was nothing like before.
