What doctors use anesthetic procedures on humans?

An anesthesiologist is the physician who puts patients under anesthesia for surgery; they are Doctors of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), who specialize in this field of medicine.

There are also R.N.A.'s (Registered Nurse Anesthetists) who can also anesthetize patients, but they have to work under the supervision of an attending anesthesiologist.
