What did a goldsmith make in the Medieval ages?

The blacksmith made all sorts of useful items from black metal- that is, iron and steel. The name of his craft distinguished him from people that worked in other metals- brass, tin, silver, or gold. The blacksmith would make such items as hinges, chains, agricultural tools (axes, hoes, saws), and Cooking Equipment, suck as spits, grates, and cranes (used to hold a pot above a fire). Some smiths made military equipment, such as knives, shields, helmets, spear and arrow heads, pikes, and armor.
