Roofing contractors are responsible for: installing and repairing roofs to make them sound and weatherproof; knowing the local building codes and basic contract writing; consulting with the building owner on appropriate procedures and materials for the job at hand; buying the necessary equipment and materials; and hiring and supervising employees as needed. Assuming they are doing things by the book and have gotten licensed, they have passed their contractor's exam, posted bond, and paid liability and worker's compensation insurance.
