There are several groups of islands in the South Pacific. There is Micronesia, which is for the most part north of the Equator (which consists of several smaller groups of Islands, including (among others) the Caroline Islands, the Marinara Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Mortlock Islands, and the Ngulu Islands), Melanesia, which is almost completely south of the Equator (which includes islands and island countries like Fiji, New Caledonia, New Guinea, and the Solomons), and Polynesia, which lies on both sides of the Equator, and includes everything from Hawaii south to New Zealand, and then East to Pitcairn Island in a sort of oblong triangle.
