What is the relevance of gender in agriculture?

According to the USDA's 2007 Census of Agriculture, the gender of farmers in the US is becoming less important all the time. The fastest-growing demographic of US farmers is indeed women. Many Future Farmers of America (FFA) organizations are made up of more girls than boys, and many women are finding niches all over agribusiness.

While farmers have historically been men, women are finding that their place in the farm entity or corporation is more important now than ever.
