What does it mean to walk a mile in someone elses shoes?

It doesn't literally mean to walk in their shoes it means to feel the way they feel and to go through the things they do. to "walk in someone else's shoes" means to know how that person feels or if someone says try walking in my shoes it means try being me for once and you'll know how i feel. I love that statement.!
