What is in-house listing in the context of real estate sale?

An in-house listing is one that is not placed on MLS or other real estate community resources. The information on on the listing is held internal only for the benefit of the agents that work for that company.

It was very common a few years ago when houses were selling very quickly with multiple offers above asking price. It is far less common today.
