Why were African Americans were treated badly in the 1950's?

because they thought they were diffrant then white people. And that no matter what they did they were punsed and they were harsh punisments. You would think white people would get in truble or aressted they never were i think that should have been changed way befor Martin Luther King Jr. was around.
