What was the First synthetic fibre made by man?

The first synthetic fiber made by man was nylon. It was created in the 1930s by a team of chemists at DuPont led by Wallace Carothers. Nylon was initially used as a replacement for silk in products such as stockings, but its versatility has since made it popular in a wide range of applications.
