When signing a greeting card whose first name should appear first mine or my husbands?

Traditionally the husband's name was always placed first.

Ex: Bob & Nancy Smith

However, this tradition has changed a lot (since around the mid 1970's).

It is now dependent on the sensibilities of the family you are sending the card to.

I have friends who put the wife's name first. On our home phone message my wife's name is first. But often at Banks and other "traditional institutions" they always ask for my name first.

So it's really your call. Today, anything goes, but if you want to stick to "Man is the head of the household" style values, place the man's name first.

They husband's name still goes first , as a sign of respect. We all know over 95 % of this social obligation falls to the wife anyway .
