What are some holiday traditions in the Western world?

There are many holiday traditions in the Western world. For instance, during Halloween, one would dress up in a costume and knock on his/her's neighbor's doors for candy. Also, during Thanksgiving, one would spend time with his/her family and have a big dinner while being thankful for his/her blessings. Lastly, during Christmas, one would buy gifts for his/her family and friends and wrap the gifts in wrapping paper, then put them under the Christmas tree to be opened on Christmas Day. These are just a few holiday traditions in the Western world.
