Nothing special, basically just death to most people but they go there anyway to get their coffee fix. They wanted a nautical theme to symbolize culture in Seattle and saw a figure of a siren from Greek mythology so swiped the idea, basically because they liked the way she looked. They added a star for Starbucks and covered her breasts later because someone said the cartoon turned him on without taking into account what the siren actually symbolized. They would sing to lure sailors to their deaths and ther are no "good" ones they were all depicted as evil.
