Why are some countries dark all day?

Some countries experience continuous darkness for a period of time due to their geographic location near the poles, particularly during the winter months. This phenomenon, known as polar night, occurs because the tilt of the Earth's axis prevents sunlight from reaching these regions for an extended time. Countries like Norway, Sweden, and parts of Canada can experience this darkness, sometimes lasting for several weeks or months, depending on their latitude.
