The terracotta warriors were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in Lintong County, Shaanxi province, China, while they were drilling a well. The farmers stumbled upon a massive underground army of life-sized statues buried near the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. This remarkable archaeological find has since become one of the most significant discoveries in the study of ancient Chinese history.
