What is the age and value of my Winchester 348 model 071 serial 26954 in very good condition with side mounted scope sling swivels are intact no rust pitting or other damage?

Rifle Model 71, serial 26954 was built in 1948. Value as stated probably in the $600 to $800 range. The side mount scope mount destroys the collector value of any original rifle, as do other non factory additions. There were deluxe versions which included checkering and pistol grip caps, and standard versions which had neither. Pre WWII models command an extra premium. Had the rifle not been drilled and tapped for the side scope mount it would have been in the $2000 to $2600 range depending on configuration. There were no special order options available for this model other than the Deluxe/Standard versions, and an optional bolt peep sight.
