Thesis is defined as: "1. A proposition to be maintained or proved......and/or....... 2. A dissertation esp. by a candidate for a degree". So, in turn they would basically mean 1. Scientifically

• when you are trying to prove a theory it is what you believe to

be the final outcome, and/or 2. It is usually the final step/major paper towards earning a degree.
