She didn't actually change her name. She decided to use her middle name as her stage name. Her real full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

There was already a singer that goes by the name Robyn, who sings "Do You Know (What It Takes), "With Every Heartbeat" & "Who's that Girl'.
