It seems the ring itself is merely a delivery device for the hormones that prevent pregnancy. The ring, therefore, can be anywhere up your tail. Beyond the question, I gotta wonder why any lady would choose to keep a foreign object in her tail for three weeks at a time instead of just swallowing a tiny, daily pill to obtain the same hormones... Different strokes, I suppose... The above answer is correct. As for using the Nuvaring rather than the pill, you don't have to remember the ring, perhaps she has a very bad memory.
