Black widow spiders on Vancouver island?

Most people will say no, but those are people who do not live on Vancouver Island, and / or look on the internet for the Black Widow's habitat. The truth is that there is Black Widows on Vancouver Island. They mainly stay south close to Victoria, although one of the first confirmed Black Widows was found in Parksville.

When I was a child, my parents found one under our living room couch during a move in Campbell River, so they could realistically be anywhere. They are virtually harmless unless you bother them, so the best thing to do is to squash them, or call a professional for study.
