Megiddo is known as a major archaeological site of Tell el Mutesellim, one of the most important sites in Israel. The site was occupied before 4500 BC and thus has a long history of occupation. Much work has been carried on there since 1903-05.

Yigael Yadin, late archaeologist of the Hebrew University identified a number of Solomonic remains including walls, the city gate (Identical to other Solomonic gates elsewhere) and the palace. He disagreed with another team of archaeologists and dated the stables to the time of Ahab. However great water systems which had previously been assigned to the 12th century he re-assigned to Solomon's time.

From this we see a clear amount of evidence relating to Solomon as well as the issue of interpretation which frequently arises in relation to archaeological finds, bearing in mind that nothing comes with a label.
