Which are the countries where french is a maternal language?

France, South of Belgium (40% of the population speak french as a 1st language), West of Switzerland (20% speak French as a 1st language), Québec, New Brunswick (a Canadian province east of Quebec where 1/3 of the population is native French speaker). Almost everybody in the French oversea territories speak French at home (Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion, New Caledonia, etc).

In Africa, French is the fastest-growing language. About half of the population in Abidjan (Cote d'Ivoire) speak French at home.
