1. SAE 5W-30 is preferred.

2. GLS is a special gear lube, GM part no. 12345349 or 1052931. (5-SPD).

3. Synthetic gear oil, GM part no. 12346190 or equivalent.

4. In cold climates when excessive shift effort is required to shift into 4WD 75W-90 Synthetic GM part no. 12345836 may be used in front differential.

5. 1988-99 models

Do not use synthetic lubricant in axles using RTV sealant. Synthetic lubricant will chemically atack RTV sealant. American Axle has only approved the use of Synthetic

Lubricant 75W-90 GM part no. 12378261, as follows:

a. All 8.6" rear axles are compatible.

b. All 9.5" rear axles built before mid-February 1998 (RTV sealant used to seal cover pan) are not compatible

c. All 9.5" rear axles built after mid-February 1998 (equipped W/ cover pan & gasket) are compatible.

d. All 10.5" rear axles built prior to March 3, 1999 are compatible if axle shafthub RTV sealer is replaced W/ GM gasket part no. 327739.

6. Gm recommends part no (USA 88861800) Canada (88861801) or equivalant for manual transmission, transfer case applications.
