How many golden keys are in borderlands 2?

Golden keys are not found in-game. Instead you have to register a gearbox 'Shift' account and look out for redeemable codes. You will receive at least one for simply registering the account, the rest are free but you need to keep an eye out on various places on the web (Gearbox's facebook page, etc) to get more codes.
