How safe is the New York City Subway system?

Definitely Safe to RideAs is the case in any major city. one should always be aware of their surrondings and take simple steps to avoid making themselves an obviouse target for criminals. that said I would have to say yes the Washington metro is quite safe to ride at night. infact i never have any doubts about the metro ride and I ride late night trains (11:30 pm- 2:30am) at least 10 or 12 times a month. depending on where I'm going, or coming from getting to themetro station maybe another thing completely. but I would say the Washington DC Metro is definitelysafe to ride at night
