On most xr200 engines and their variants (Honda vertical 125cc, 185cc, 200cc common from late 70's through millennium on motorcycles, ATC's and ATV's) there is a rubber boot just behind the cylinder on the top left side of the case. Remove it, and start the engine. At idle, loosen the 14mm bolt for a few (8-10) seconds and then re-tighten the bolt. By loosening the 14mm, this releases the tension-er and the spring takes up the chain slack. When the 14mm is tightened it holds the tensioner in place. There is a 10mm bolt screwed into the 14mm which doesn't need to be removed for this. It is for the manual adjusting method, used when the spring won't tension the chain properly using the method above. The manual method isn't recommended unless you know what you are doing as too much tension will destroy the bearing race in the head. BTW, valve clearance is .002 Intake and .003 Exhaust, engine cold.
