Where is Diego from go Diego go from?

Diego lives somewhere in South America. The animals that are shown on the show narrows his location down to Peru/Bolivia/Brazil/possibly northern Argentina. I assume since he and everyone else on the show speak Spanish that they aren't in Brazil.
