The sooner you start to remove a stain the better, if you can't remember how long the stain has been there I would recommend a slipcover.
- Blot off as much of the stain as you can with a clean, dry paper towel.
- Use a damp cloth and continue blotting, if it gets wet enough that it seems to be spreading return to the dry paper towels and alternate. Use cold water unless you know for sure that it is not a protein-based stain.
- If this isn't working well enough, sprinkle a little club soda on the stain and continue blotting, or buy an upholstery cleaner and follow the directions on it.
- Once the stain is gone, use clean dry towels to dry the place where the stain is.
