How old in 1965 to purchase cigarettes?

I dont think there was a limit,I remember in the early 70's being 9 years old and my grandma sending me to the convinient store to buy her smoke's all the time..at all different places.

Yeah in the sixties my mum and her siblings used to buy her dad smokes, and they were like five or something.
