Why do politicians love using the media to get their message across?

They use the media to get their message across because the media shapes many peoples views. A certain politician from a particular political party decides to 'sell' their ideas using the mass media, it will begin to shape other peoples views and help them get more popularity. They promote themselves through main stream media sources such as the internet; social networking websites such as facebook and twitter, newspapers; which is a large target for certain politicians as many people read certain newspapers etc.
