Where did thoroughbreds first come from?

Thoroughbreds were first bred from lines of Arabians for their large nostrils and great lung capacity. This enabled them to cover long distances at a fast pace and have enough oxygen in their bodies to perform such great feats. Many other breeds are also derived from the Arabian.
