What is parathomone?

Parathormone, also known as parathyroid hormone (PTH), is a hormone produced by the parathyroid glands that plays a crucial role in regulating calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. It increases calcium levels by promoting the release of calcium from bones, enhancing calcium reabsorption in the kidneys, and stimulating the conversion of vitamin D to its active form, which increases intestinal calcium absorption.
