International sporting occasion are in easing international tensions and releasing patriotic emontions in a safe way?

The popular sport events, like Olympic Game or Football World Cup, are highly important in contributing to the dialogue between peoples and countries. The most known example is a "ping-pong diplomacy" between the United States and Chine in the early 1970s. The ordinary sportsmen have paced a way for the mutually beneficial cooperation. Sport brings together common people from different corners of world. It unites them despite their background, social status, race or religion. It helps people to identify them in the globalized world, where the strongest wins competition in a fair way. It makes people to be proud for their country. There are many examples when sport becomes a religion, in countries like England, Italy or Brazil - football is everything. And when there are many fans and clubs, there will always be opponents. But if there are control and ensured security, extremists with aggressive behaviour will always be in minority. In this regard I agree that the sport plays a positive role in easing international tensions.
