What was the population in the United Kingdom in 1860?

The then UK contained 28.8 million, but note that until 1921 the UK included the whole of Ireland. Great Britain alone contained about 22.95 million, and the area of today's UK (i.e. Great Britain and Northern Ireland) around 24.35 million.
