When was machhapuchre banned for climbing?

Machhapuchre, a prominent peak in the Annapurna region of Nepal, was banned for climbing in 1957. The Nepalese government designated it as a sacred mountain, which is considered a home to the deity Fishtail, thus prohibiting all climbing attempts to preserve its sanctity.
