Why does your lambda warning light come on after about 5 minutes driving?

BEcause the Computer is generally programed to ignore the readings from the Lambda Sensor (Oxegen Sensor in North America) untilll the engine and the sensor warm up.

Once this delay passes the computer realizes there is a fault.
