What is the difference between ER70S-6 and ER70S-3?

ER70S-6 and ER70S-3 are both types of welding wires used for gas metal arc welding (GMAW) but differ in their composition and applications. ER70S-6 contains higher levels of manganese and silicon, which improve its performance on rusted or contaminated surfaces and enhance its arc stability and puddle control. In contrast, ER70S-3 has lower deoxidizers, making it suitable for clean or lightly rusted materials but less effective on heavily contaminated surfaces. Consequently, ER70S-6 is often preferred for more challenging welding conditions.
