On June 6, 2011 a DHL cargo plane attempting to land at Liberville Airport in Gabon; the crew and one passenger survived after the plane was ditched in water near the airport due to engine malfunction.
On May 24, 2011 an Air Services Pvt. Ltd. plane crashed into the roof of a building in Faridabad City, India while transporting a patient to Apollo Hospital. All seven aboard and three people on the ground perished in this accident.
On May 18, 2011 a SOL Lineas Aereas passenger flight crashed near Prahuaniyeu, Argentina after a distress call. All of the 22 people on board died in the crash.
May 7, 2011 a Merpati Nusantara Airlines turboprop plane crashed into the sea in bad weather near Kaimana, Indonesia. All of the 27 people on board died in the crash.
On April 4, 2011 a United Nations plane, leased from Geogian Airways, crashed in Kinshasa, Congo while attempting to land in the rain. 32 of the 33 on board died in the crash.
The most recent crash of a major airline was on January 8, 2011 an Iran Air plane crashed in bad weather while making an approach to the airport near Orumiyeh, Iran. 77 of the 105 on board died in the crash.
Another was on January 1, 2011 when a Kogalmavia flight exploded as it taxied for take off at Surgut, Russia. Only three of the 124 on borad were killed, with 24 injured.
