Francisco Pizarro did not discover the Pacific Ocean; it was Vasco Núñez de Balboa who first sighted it in 1513. Pizarro, however, is known for his conquest of the Inca Empire in the early 16th century. His expeditions took place after Balboa's discovery, but he played a significant role in the exploration and colonization of the Pacific coast of South America.
