The Five Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, also known as the Haudenosaunee, consisted of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca tribes. Later, the Tuscarora joined the Confederacy, making it the Six Nations. These tribes were known for their complex political system and played a significant role in the history of Central New York.
