The short answer is no.

This is a very complex question. Some scientists believe that there may be a genetic sequence that influences whether a person is going to be gay.

There are different types of gays.

  • From birth and around puberty stage (or even younger in some cases) children know they prefer girls to boys or vice versa.
  • There are especially some women that are not gay, but have had no success with women and become lonely and would rather have a relationship with another woman. There are some men who also feel this way about women and prefer leaning towards their own male counterparts, but, they have a more difficult time than women deciding what to do about it.

Christianity has put the pressure on the gay society condemning them to hell if they don't change their ways. Some in society refuse to accept gays in a community.

The above being said, there is no known cure for being gay because it's not a disease. If the person is gay, they should remain true to themselves. In the past 10 years it has gotten much easier to 'come out of the closet.' There are laws protecting gays from discrimination and no longer do they have to fear getting jobs or being accepted into the mainstream of society in many places.

Some so-called psychiatrists claim they can "cure" gay people, but this has not been proven. In fact, the founder of "Exodus International," a program that claimed it could "cure homosexuality" himself failed to be cured. Many states are now enacting laws against this practice, as it has no scientific validity.
