an obsolete aircraft control method that was used , however on the Wright Bros. Pattern of l903 (erroneously called Kitty Hawk) and some other first-generation airplanes, it actually warped or bent the fabric control surfaces. Superseded by ailerons which were developed by rival aircraftman Glenn Curtiss in l908- in production in l909 and originally called (Interplane Field Struts) these were located between the wings of say, a biplane- were outboard and viewed from certain angles , looked almost like a triplane. some outboard steering posts (alternate title by Curtiss) were used on Navy aircraft up through World War I, none were built later, superseded by modern ailerons. let us not make a big flap about it!
