How did fashion influence history?

fashion effected people's outlook on life, and influenced their view of their social status, and thus their potential. IN 15th cent. Germany, sumptuary laws forbade the lower and middle class from wearing excessively gaudy raiment. Around Venice, people were restricted from weaving anything but black velvet, so as to make a distinction between town and country. In general, fashion most heavily influences the economy, which in turn affects other aspects of society.
