The brick and wooden buildings in Jamestown were primarily destroyed by a combination of fire and neglect. A significant fire in 1705 devastated much of the settlement, consuming many structures. Over time, the lack of maintenance and the impact of natural decay also contributed to the deterioration of the remaining buildings. Additionally, the town’s gradual decline and abandonment further led to the loss of its architectural heritage.
